Foundation Skills

Our Foundation Skills course run for seven weeks and covers skills such as:

​

• Sit on verbal/visual cue

• Drop on verbal/visual cue for a minimum duration of three seconds

• Loose lead walking over five meters

• Focus exercises, touch and look

• Sit stay on visual/verbal cue for a duration of 30 seconds at 3-5m

• Recall on a visual/verbal cue at 3-5m

• Go to mat on visual/verbal cue and settle in place for a short length of time with minor distractions

• Respond to name

• Settle on place with minor distractions

As a guardian, you will learn about:

​

• How dogs learn and communicate

• Positive reinforcement training principles

• Basics of body language and signs of stress

• Appropriate handling 

• Enrichment activities and toys

• Management strategies for problem behaviours

• On-lead management around other dogs

• Guidance and guardianship (advocating for your dog)

Class details:

Seven classes (held weekly)

45 minute sessions

Limited to 6 puppies per class

Program cost: $350

​

You and your puppy will receive a certificate after completing this program.
